Dear Family Oberndorfer:
We heartily congratulate you on your anniversary. We are proud of and happy having spent our holidays for 28 years out of the century in your hotel.
Of course we remember the old restaurant with the garden, which was open to the street and it´s woody public baths. Josef Oberndorfer, a young man at this time, together with his young wife and his small children. That´s the way it is under the shadow of his white-haired father who reigned totally over the hotel and the "beer garden" along with his wife in the delicious kitchen. So everything has changed in the change of generations, but the spirit of the house remained the same. Warm summer evenings under the chestnut trees, the bathing area with the view over the lake where it seems that the time means nothing, and last but not least, the waves and the wind which always deliver a breath of the message from old imperial Austria. Thank you for your hospitality during all those years...
From Anni Matzka
In 1955 I came to the Oberndorfer hotel and I remember very well the ride with my father on his old motorbike from Mondsee to Attersee. I worked as room maid & served beverages during
the meal hours. There was a lot of work but I learned a lot.In the morning,I started at 7a.m. cleaning the rooms. At lunchtime I had to serve.Often I was angry with the service staff because it seemed to me that they didn`t do anything and stood around while I had to clean up.The head waiter,Rudi, always brought me a snack-since no one else cared about me.Later on we had lots of fun in spite of our hard work.I got to know Rudi better.Late at night I often tiptoed from the loft over the
precipitous stairs across the hall from Rudi´s room.It was always very exciting because nobody should hear us & I had to be careful not to meet anyone. In 1960 we got married.I stayed `til I had my first baby. I also worked with Gerti, who later became Mrs. Oberndorfer,a proficient hard working innkeeper´s wife.
